Car ITP Inspection
Periodic technical inspection for cars — required documents, what is checked, frequency. Our RAR-authorized station performs car technical inspections quickly and professionally, with same-day pre-inspection available.

What Is Checked During ITP
The periodic technical inspection covers all major vehicle systems:
- Braking system (front, rear, handbrake)
- Steering and wheel alignment
- Lighting and signalling system
- Exhaust emissions (CO, HC, CO₂)
- Body structure and integrity
- Wheels, tyres and suspension
- Windows, mirrors and visibility
- Seatbelts and airbag indicators
- Electrical system and battery
- Vehicle identification (VIN, registration plates)
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ITP
- Vehicle registration certificate (talon) – original
- Vehicle Identity Card (CIV) – original
For leased vehicles, a copy of the CIV marked “conform cu originalul” (certified true copy) and stamped by the owner is accepted.
- Identity document of the person presenting the vehicle
Anyone may present the vehicle for ITP; they do not need to be the vehicle’s owner.
ITP FREQUENCY – PASSENGER CARS
- New car – first ITP 3 years after first registration
- Car less than 12 years old – ITP every 2 years
- Car at least 12 years old – annual ITP
For certain vehicle categories and uses (taxis, ride-hailing, passenger transport, freight transport, etc.), ITP intervals differ.
